Monogram Wedding Shower

This cake turned out better than I expected it to!  Top tier is chocolate with chocolate buttercream filling, bottom tier is vanillla. All covered and decorated with vanilla buttercream and fondant/gumpaste monogram for the topper!

Cowboy Boots

Hand carved cake Cowboy boots and cake to coordinate! The boots were the HARDEST cake I have attempted yet! Cake does not like being carved that much, nor does it like to stand tall and narrow! Once the boots were finished, I realized it wouldn't yield many servings. Thank goodness I over baked this weekend and just happened to have just enough cake to serve about 20 more people! Whoo!! I free handed the fondant cut outs on both the bots and the sides of the party cake! I love the way both of these cakes turned out and I hope the birthday boy loves them just as much! I forgot to snap a picture with my regular camera before sending this one out the door, so sorry about the low quality photo of the party cake :-/

Red Socks Birthday

Here is to making another sphere out of cake :)! This cake is a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream covered in fondant. Hand piped the stitching in buttercream, and made the socks from fondant.

Skateboard

Skateboard created to two brother's birthdays! Their initials were KB so, I made a "logo" from their initials and ages! All the little images were hand piped free handed in buttercream icing. The cake is a vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream, covered in fondant. The wheels were RKT, held on with a dowel rod to a base of RKT covered in black buttercream. Lost of fun to make, and I LOVE the vibrant colors this one had!

How to build a light box, MY WAY!

Here is what you need for the structure. I went to my local box hardware store and found 1/2in PVC pipe in 10ft lengths, and 5ft lengths. SO I bought 25ft of it! When I got home I used my husbands PVC snips and cut the pipe into 10-30in length peices.

I bought 2 elbow peices, but I should have bought 4, and 6 of the 3 hole pieces.(If I would do over, Id buy 4 of the elbows, and 4 of the 3 hole things). The next picture will show you why. If you notice, I had to buy some connector pieces for the 3 hole things because one hole was threaded. This obviously added length, so I face each threaded hole horizontally on the back end, making the box about an inch wider than it was deep.
The back right hand corner...the top and left hand corners mirror this image.

The bottom piece has the elbow, now you see why I should have bought 4 elbows, and not 2! I dont need that extra hole, BUT if you want the bar there for extra support, just buy what you see here, and 2 more of the connector pieces to fit the pipe into the threaded hole.

Because I am quite clumsy at times, I decided to leave the entire front end of my box open to save the cakes from a bump! The box holds well without the extra pipe, but feel free to add it in there if you think your box needs more support for the wight of a sheet LOL!

Okay, So here it is, sheets and all LOL!! I couldn't find any fabric at Walmart, so I tried using my queen sized sheets instead AND IT WORKED! On the sides, I have to basic cheap desk lamps. I draped the flat sheet on the back, and down to the front, and did the fitted sheet across the sides and top. The only thing I did differently you don't see here, is I turned it around and faced it towards the window for natural light. I hope this "How To" was helpful!

This precious cake is a chocolate cake, filled with chocolate buttercream, then decorated with vanilla buttercream and fondant accents!!

Tangled Cupcakes

Perfect for a little girl's birthday party! I made 30 cupcakes with a simple fondant flower accent, and a cute cake just for the birthday girl! I love how well the colors work together, making this cake very fun and colorful! Cupcakes and cake are vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream!

Micky and Spongebob Rockin Out at the Beach!

This cake came out so adorable! Spongbob and Patrick and Donald are hanging out on the beach, while Micky and Mini Mouse dance on the party deck!! LOL The cake is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream. I made the beach "sandy" simply by sprinkling a mixer of brown sugar, and regular granulated sugar!

Boobie Cake!!!

Wow, that is all I can say about this one!! The left "breast" is a chocolate cake with whipped chocolate ganache, the right "breast" is vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream! The entire cake is covered in fondant! Happy Birthday!

Building A Lightbox, FINALLY!

Okay, so maybe I am doing this a little late, but better late than never right!??!? SO The light box. I couldn't stand to spend $40+ dollars on a light box to photograph my goodies in, and still not have the right size, or a place to store the darn thing! I went online, researched several how to's and finally came up with a design that would work for me! I went to our local box hardware store, bought 15ft of 1/2 PVC pip, 2 elbows, and 6 little three hole one that would give me my 90 degree corners (sorry, I don't know the technical names, I will pictures in my next blog post on how to construct it!) Walmart did not have any fabric when I went, so I decided to use just some fitted sheets I had lying around the house lol! I forgot at the time I had a set of white, so in my pictures you will see beige :P. Anyways...Came out great! Very easy to construct, and fits exactly what I need it for! I made a cube, but left the front two horizontal pieces out, that way when slipping a large cake in or out, I wont have to worry about bumping it on the pipe and ruining a beautiful cake! Here is my first trial run with the new set up. Don't laugh at my "models" they were all I had in the fridge, and weren't meant to be looked at, just eatin by my kids and husband! I think it will make a big difference when photographing my cakes, it even made a simple little cupcake look better under better light!

Sexy Cute Lingerie and Bag

Ok, this has got to be my favorite cake now! This cake almost didn't happen too! I had written the date for this cake on March 12, but really it was for February 12!! I did not find this out until about 10:00 pm Friday, February 11th...OMG PANIC!!! SO SO SOO happy with how it came out! Vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream, but I tinted the BC red to go with the Valentines theme for this cake! I wish the bride to be all the best!

Strawberry Shortcake!

This 3 tier cake uses a center support rod for stability! I love this technique for larger cakes! The top and bottom tiers are vanilla cake, and the middle tier is a chocolate cake with chocolate BC filling! The whole cake is decorated with vanilla BC and decorated with fondant accents! Strawberry and her dog are fondant as well.

Arkansas Razorbacks!

I am sad to see this one go! I named this one Henry the Hog....He was a carefully sculpted hog. Vanilla cake with Vanilla buttercream, fondant accents, and RKT legs! What you can't see in the pictures, are the little lines I cut to make teeth!

Super Bowl 2011!!!

My take on the Super Bowl this year! I wanted to represent both sides, so one side is yellow for the Green Bay Packers, and the other is black for the Pittsburgh Steelers! I made the little footballs from a mixture of modeling chocolate and fondant, and piped on the stitching with royal icing. Vanilla cake with cookies and cream buttercream!

Ping pong cake! Double layer quarter sheet cake, vanilla with vanilla buttercream! I hand made the paddles and net from fondant!

Red and Zebra

Super adorable zebra cake with red accents! Cake is a 10/8 in vanilla cake with vanilla buttercream, and fondant accents. 26 cupcakes accompanied the cake!
